We offer a 30-day repair or replace warranty against defects on new instruments that are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Most of our new US-made stringed instruments come with a warranty from manufacturers such as Dusty Strings, Gibson, Bart Reiter, Chanterelle, Hohner and Alvarez. Please refer to the product page in our online catalog or contact us for more information.

Our warranty does not cover harmoniums, Chinese accordions and used or consigned instruments.

Return Policy

The products listed on our website represent what we have in stock, AND what we can order from our suppliers. We have a fairly small store, and cannot possibly stock everything on our website. Many of our products are handmade and/or imported, and many of them are not regularly stocked in our store. However, we are happy to special-order such items for interested customers.

SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS -- These are items we don't normally carry in our store and have to order from the supplier.

Special Order Items may be returned for a full refund ONLY if the item is damaged or defective.
If you are interested in buying a sitar, tambura, tablas, harmoniums, or other foreign imported instrument, please read our article about the quality of some of these imported items.

We will accept "preferential" returns on special order items (please see exceptions below ), but in cases other than damage or defect, the refund will be subject to a 10% restocking fee.

Some special order items may require a deposit. We will notify you if this is the case.

STOCK ITEMS -- These are what we normally carry in the store.

Stock Items may be returned for any reason (please see exceptions below, as long as we are notified within 7 days after you have received the item, you have gotten our return authorization, and have promptly shipped the item back to us. Stock items will not be charged a restocking fee upon return, provided it arrives back in the same condition in which we shipped it out.

Due to the sheer number of products we carry, it is not feasible for us to designate every single item on our website as SPECIAL ORDER or STOCK. We always notify you if the item you ordered is not in stock, and we do our best to let you know if it is a special order item and subject to our stricter return policy. However, we assume that if you are ordering an item, you will be keeping it, unless it arrives damaged or defective. If you have any questions before you order an item from our website, don¬¼t hesitate to contact us by phone or e-mail.

  • "As Is" items
  • Books & Recordings -- We are always happy to replace damaged or defective merchandise. However, in the interest of copyright protection, we do not accept preferential returns on any books or recordings.

RETURN GUIDELINES

  • ALL returns must be authorized by us -- contact us first if you want to return your purchase.

  • All returns must be shipped by an insured carrier -- we will recommend one to you.

  • If an item was damaged in shipping, please IMMEDIATELY notify both the carrier and our Mail Order Department so we can arrange for pickup of the item and file a claim. You will not have to pay for the return shipping on an item damaged by the carrier.
    Please save the original carton and all packing material and follow our instructions for shipping an instrument to us.
