Deff Drums
The Deff, also called Daf or Taf, is a shallow frame drum common throughout Asia Minor and the Mediterranean area. This drum is usually held in one hand and struck with the other.
Deff drums may be available by special order. Please contact us for more information.
Native American Drums
Large shallow cross-braced frame drum, similar to the Irish Bodhran, but beaten with a standard single-headed padded mallet instead of a double-headed tipper. Can be made with skin or synthetic heads.
Remo Buffalo Drum
Native American style frame drum with rope cross-braces, synthetic
head, and mallet. These drums are much better than natural skin drums for use in sweat lodges. The
synthetic head is less susceptible to going out of tune in the high heat and humidity.
Drums decorated with graphic designs are usually available through special order: please email to inquire.
For cases to fit the larger sizes, see Bodhran Cases.
Not all sizes may be in stock. Please contact us for the most current selection.
Deerhide drums by Denali Degraf
We occasionally carry Native American-style drums made by Denali Degraf, a drum and flute-maker who travels frequently between our area and South/Central America (so availability is often based on his schedule). Drums are made of maple shells and deer hide skin. (Click here for photo | Click here for photo of drum back) Various sizes and prices, ranging from $140-$170. Mallet not included. Please contact us for current availability.
Other wood and plastic tambourines (with and without heads) may be available in stock or by special order. Please contact us for current selection.
