Steve Carmody Guitars

For many years, HMT has been lucky to have the repair services of local luthier Steve Carmody. Steve is well-known as one of the best luthiers in the tri-state area. He is an authorized Martin warranty repair technician. Many of our staff guitarists do not entrust their instruments to anyone else but Steve! Now, HMT is pleased to feature his fine instruments.

Since 1989, Steve Carmody has repaired and restored thousands of guitars, including hundreds of instruments from the "golden era" of American guitar making. This background has provided him with a deep sensibility about the desirable features that he feels should be found in a fine steel string guitar. Now Steve has designed a guitar that combines all of these qualities. Every Steve Carmody guitar is made of select high-quality tone woods and structural materials. Each instrument exhibits artistic design and attention to detail. And they all incorporate an acoustic design which supports harmonic sustain, balanced tone, impeccable playability, and excellent intonation.

Models are available in rosewood, mahogany and black walnut tone woods, with tops of sitka or red spruce. Prices start at $2,650 including hardshell case. Advance orders accepted with $500 non-refundable deposit.

SOLD Guitar #11

This was Steve's own personal guitar for awhile (he built it in 2007), and so we are selling it as "lightly used" by the luthier!

The guitar is designed with the fingerstyle player in mind. The neck is 1 and 3/4 inches at the nut. The scale length is 25 inches. It is set up and adjusted for medium gauge strings and has wonderful resonance and clarity in drop tunings. The back and sides are Western Maryland Black Walnut with stunning grain.

The top is AAAA grade Sitka Spruce with a rosette of select Paua abalone. The neck is Honduran mahogany. The fretboard and bridge are ebony. The saddle and nut are bone. The binding and headstock cover plate are Brazilian rosewood. The tuners are Gotoh 510s, which have a 21/1 gearing ratio (the most precise tuners currently available).

Includes a new TKL deluxe archtop hardshell case. At the time of purchase, if the buyer wishes, Steve will install a pick-up at no labor charge (customer must provide or pay for the pick-up itself).
