Bluegrass banjo

Winner of the 1992 National Bluegrass Banjo Championship, Ira brings to his teaching a wide-ranging knowledge of bluegrass and other musical styles. He has performed with the Johnson Mountain Boys, Peter Rowan, the Pat McGee band, and other nationally-known artists. He is a frequent contributor to Bluegrass Unlimited and Banjo Newsletter, and has taught in workshops at Common Ground, the Maryland Banjo Academy, Winterhawk, and the Gettysburg Bluegrass Comporee. Ira also plays guitar and bass and is an accomplished composer and arranger.

Ira sings and plays string bass for the Oklahoma Twisters, a DC-area Western Swing band. He also performs with The Urban Legends.
