Jaqui MacMillan's drumming quest began in the early 1980's. Since then, she has studied and trained with many Masters including Mamady Keita and Baba Olatunji. Jaqui won the Washington Area Music Award (WAMMIE) for World Music Instrumentalist in 1995 to 2002 and is endorsed by REMO, Inc. She performed with the group Big Village for 11 years, along with many other groups and solo performances. In addition to private lessons, Jaqui has offered her hand drum workshops, "Drum For Joy!" in the Mid Atlantic region for many years.
Lessons are $45 for 45 minutes for individuals or $120 for a series of 6 group lessons, and are held at the House of Musical Traditions' new teaching studios at 7008 Westmoreland Ave, Takoma Park, MD. This is next door to our new store location at 7010 Westmoreland. The studios are upstairs from the Curves gym. This location is walking distance from the Takoma Metro station, and free parking is available in the lot behind our new store.
