Music Lessons > Philippe Varlet updated September 15, 2005
Irish accordion, fiddle, tenor banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, guitar

Philippe has been playing and teaching Irish traditional music in the Washington area since 1977. Through his work as an ethnomusicologist and discographer, Philippe has acquired a vast knowledge of Irish music history, which he incorporates into his teaching. Although a guitar and bouzouki player originally, Philippe has been playing mainly Irish fiddle for the last 25 years, and has taken on the Irish button accordion (B/C tuning) more recently.

He performs currently with the band Coleman's Cross, and hosts two sessions a week (Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons) at the Bethesda, MD Irish pub Ri-Ra.

Private lessons are $45 for 45 minutes and are held in Silver Spring (metro accessible). Please call (301)270-9090 or contact the lessons coordinator by email.
